How clinics in Noida are replacing paper tokens with WhatsApp

Why walk-in clinics and hospital OPDs across Delhi NCR are moving their queue to WhatsApp, what it costs, and how the setup works.

Walk into any busy OPD in Noida or Ghaziabad at 9 am and you will see the same scene: a crowd at the reception, a paper token roll, and patients who have been standing for forty minutes with no idea when their turn will come.

The fix most clinics reach for is a token display machine. It costs a lakh or more, needs a technician when it breaks, and still requires the patient to be physically present to collect a token. There is a cheaper and more useful option: the patient's own phone.

How a WhatsApp queue works

  1. The patient sends a message to the clinic's WhatsApp number, or scans a QR code at the gate.
  2. They get a token number back instantly, with the current token being served and an estimated wait.
  3. They can leave, have a cup of tea, and come back when WhatsApp tells them they are two tokens away.
  4. The reception manages the queue from a web dashboard. A screen in the waiting area shows the current token.

No app download, no registration, no new hardware beyond a screen you may already have.

What it changes for the clinic

  • Fewer people in the waiting area, which was the entire point during COVID and is still the point for a clinic with 40 chairs and 120 patients.
  • Reception stops answering "kitna time lagega" fifty times a day. The bot does.
  • Data you never had: average wait per doctor, peak hours by day, no-show rate.
  • Multi-counter support: separate queues for OPD, pathology, pharmacy, with one number.

What it costs

Our Token Management product runs on the official WhatsApp Business API. Setup is typically two to three business days, most of it waiting for Meta to verify the clinic's number. Pricing is a monthly subscription that depends on message volume. A single-doctor clinic in Greater Noida pays less than it would spend on printing token rolls and a part-time receptionist's overtime.

Who it is for

Clinics, diagnostic centres, dental practices, hospital OPDs, and any walk-in service desk: RTO agents, banks, government offices, even busy salons. If your customers wait in a line, they can wait on WhatsApp instead.

See Token Management or ask us on WhatsApp to see it running for a clinic like yours.
