Image compressor
Make photos small enough for a fast website, a WhatsApp catalogue or a form upload, without sending them to a server. Choose the quality, maximum width and format, then download.
Pick an image to see the compressed result.
How to use it
Pick an image. It opens on your device only.
Adjust quality and maximum width until the size is where you need it. WebP gives the smallest files for the web.
Download the compressed image. The original is untouched.
Why image size matters
A product photo straight from a phone is 3 to 6 MB. Ten of those on a page is 40 MB, which takes 20 seconds on a mobile connection and drags your Google PageSpeed score below 50. Resizing to 1200 to 1600 px wide and compressing to 80% quality brings each one under 200 KB with no visible difference.
JPG, WebP or PNG
JPG for photos on anything older; WebP for photos on the web (25 to 35% smaller than JPG, supported by every current browser); PNG only for logos and screenshots with sharp edges or transparency.
How small is small enough
Hero images under 250 KB, product and gallery images under 150 KB, thumbnails under 40 KB. For WhatsApp, under 1 MB avoids heavy recompression.
Common questions
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Compression runs in your browser with the canvas API. Close the tab and nothing remains.
Why is my PNG not getting smaller?
PNG is lossless; the quality slider does not apply. Reduce the width, or switch to WebP or JPG if it is a photo.
Does it keep the EXIF data?
No. Location and camera data are stripped, which is usually what you want for the web.
Is there a size limit?
Only your device's memory. Very large images (over 30 MP) may be slow on older phones.
Need the full version?
Slow site? Oversized images are the usual cause. A redesign on a modern stack, with images handled automatically, gets most sites past 90 on PageSpeed.
