Website speed test

See your site's Google PageSpeed score for mobile and desktop, and the four metrics behind it. If it is below 90, the sections underneath explain what usually fixes it.

Runs Google's PageSpeed Insights (Lighthouse) on your page. Scores: 90+ good, 50 to 89 needs work, below 50 slow.

How to use it

  1. Enter your website address and click Test speed. It takes about 30 seconds per device.

  2. Read the mobile score first; that is what most of your visitors and Google use.

  3. Check the metrics: LCP over 2.5 s usually means big images; blocking time means too much JavaScript; layout shift means elements jumping as the page loads.

Why speed changes your ranking and your enquiries

Google uses page experience as a ranking signal, and on a 4G connection a page that takes five seconds loses a third of its visitors before it shows anything. A business site in NCR competing for local searches is often separated from the page above it by nothing more than a 40-point speed difference.

The usual culprits

Uncompressed photos straight from the phone; a page-builder theme loading twenty scripts; no caching; fonts loaded from three places; a chat widget that blocks rendering. Fixing images alone often moves a site from 40 to 70.

What 90+ takes

Images resized and served as WebP, scripts deferred, a static or server-rendered page, a CDN, and fonts self-hosted. Every site we build ships at 90+ on mobile; most existing sites get there in a redesign.

Common questions

Is this the same as Google PageSpeed Insights?

Yes. It calls the same Lighthouse service and shows the headline numbers in plain language.

Why do mobile and desktop differ so much?

Mobile is tested on a simulated mid-range phone over 4G. Desktop is much more forgiving. Mobile is the number that matters.

My score is 60. Is that bad?

It is average for small-business sites and it costs you visitors. 90+ is achievable for almost any site.

Why did the test fail?

The URL must be publicly reachable. Password-protected or staging sites cannot be tested.
